We chose the Gullwing design for its simple clean lines and angles that best reflected how we felt about our chosen site and elevation. The Gullwing shape, together with our chosen colour scheme, is in harmony with the cliff backdrop and bush, mountain and sea views that surround us.
The indoor/outdoor flow and our north/west facing aspect is great for family living and entertaining visitors. We can literally step outside onto the terrace and be entertained by a tui or a bellbird on the plants against the railings. Large bifolds and sliding doors along the front of the house allow for fantastic views of the sea, so that we can be inside as well as outside to view the magical sunsets.

We have been in our McLaren home since 2010 and are enjoying it immensely.  We love the design, it’s easy to live in and when family come and stay the extra space is wonderful. In 2010 we built a McRaeway home at East Taieri. Initially we met with Christine Scannell (McRaeway) and Dave Wootton (Network Builder) and were very impressed with their professionalism, friendliness and advice. At no time was there any pressure, but instead direction and suggestions backed up by experience of building homes for many years.  We visited McRaeway Homes Show Homes in Timaru and found the staff very helpful and the range of options in the home comprehensive.

Dave oversaw the whole project and made sure that everything ran smoothly. Upon completion, we had a home which we were very happy with, and the quality of the workmanship from all tradespeople who worked on the property was excellent.

I had put off getting started with my plans to build because it seemed like such a daunting prospect, but I found a house design on the McRaeway website that looked perfect for my waterfront site, and was able to visit a show home in Timaru. From the outset, the staff at McRaeway were welcoming, positive, helpful and open to ideas. They quickly set up a meeting with their Sales Consultant Christine Scannell, who explained the whole process clearly and helped - along with the rest of the McRaeway team in Timaru - with all kinds of decisions to do with siting, altering and equipping the standard design to best suit my situation. Nothing was too difficult - it was a "yes we can" attitude all the way.

A double garage basement was added, and some rooms re-ordered to maximise the spaces for sun and views. McRaeway staff kept in touch regularly through meetings, emails and phone calls, and all the costs were completely transparent, as they provided a thorough pricing list for standard features and optional extras.

I elected to work with McRaeway network builder Dave Wootton and his team, and from the outset Dave "went the extra mile."  He was fully attuned to my wishes and managed the whole process; from the consents to organising the subcontractors, always keeping me in touch with how things were going. The builders were a great team; reliable, careful and professional. There seemed to be a seamless connection between the staff at McRaeway, the builders and subcontractors. And, as a result of everyone's efforts, I now have exactly the house I wanted. I couldn't imagine a more positive building experience and I'm delighted with the result. I thoroughly recommend the McRaeway experience!
